Dr Jerome Kim, director general of the International Vaccine Institute, explains the consequences of the ongoing failure to adequately vaccinate the planet. Dr Chris Smith of Cambridge University concludes that, for now, humankind must learn to live alongside coronavirus – but he draws attention to new science which may open the door to the development of a single vaccine, which could be fully effective against future variants.
